Psychiatrist: A General Overview

Psychiatrists attend medical school and are medically trained. As with all mental health professionals, the approaches to training are quite diverse. In general, these professionals have received the most training about medication; however, they have not received as much training in therapy and assessment.

Do Psychiatrists Offer Therapy?

Most psychiatrists just prescribe medicine today. However, there are many psychiatrists who have also received therapy training and still offer therapy services. In general, most psychiatrists will refer clients to a therapist for therapy.
